Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary based at University Hospital Crosshouse.
What You Will Do
An opportunity has arisen for a full time Medical Secretary within the ENT Department (Ear, Nose & Throat) at University Hospital Crosshouse. Flexible and enthusiastic, you will provide a comprehensive medical secretarial service within the ENT Department. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
Primary duties will include audio transcription of clinic and discharge letters, maintaining and updating computerised waiting list, dealing with telephone enquiries from patients, relatives, GPs and other external and internal agencies.
Primary duties will include, transcription of clinical correspondence using digital dictation and processing patient results appropriately and timeously. Other duties include operating and maintaining the waiting list within the specialty.

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job
- Relevant secretarial qualification (eg. AMSPAR Diploma for Medical Secretaries, RSA, HNC, Business Administration or equivalent qualification/experience
- Excellent understanding and comprehension of English language
- Accurate audio-typing skills
- Secretarial experience
- Microsoft Office Packages
- Ability to work individually in a team setting
- Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with a wide range of disciplines/general public
- Ability to work in a team environment or on own initiative
- Flexibility in approach to working practices
- Manage time, prioritise workloads
