The Role

The Academy Analyst facilitates the analytical needs of the coach in training and games to aid the development of young players.

  • Support the delivery of development and performance insights to the Academy Director and Coaches
  • Support the delivery of the Club’s footballing philosophy across the Academy
  • Be an active member and contribute to the versatility and innovation of performance analysis in the Club


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of development insights to the coaches within the Academy
  • Ensure work is closely aligned with the methodologies of the Club’s Academy coaching and Performance Analysis standards
  • Produce highly engaging content, appropriate for respective age groups, to assist them in the delivery of development strategies
  • Maintain strong analytical processes that provide technical and tactical insights and support innovative methods of delivery
  • Create and maintain databases to analyse trends and manage the training/matchday cycle effectively
  • Build libraries of best practices to aid individual learning plans
  • Ensure content is visible and accessible to relevant Academy staff and support the Club’s methodology work as required
  • Attend designated home/away matches and seek opportunities to learn new experiences
  • Lead the capture and management of video content throughout the training and games schedule
  • Embody best practices across the department workflows and support the use of performance analysis within individual development plans
  • Work collaboratively across the department to ensure all EPPP Category 1 criteria is met
  • Manage casual analyst schedules and control the quality and consistency in their work
  • Support any recruitment, retention or release requirements the Club may have
  • Maintain upkeep of the Academy Analysis suite and all of the department’s associated hardware and technology
  • Attend and contribute to all performance analysis meetings and get-togethers

Skills And Experience

  • Experienced working within an elite footballing environment
  • Educated to degree level or higher
  • Possesses a high level of football intelligence, engaged in progressing their coaching journey
  • High detail with an ability to maintain standards even under pressure
  • Excellent technical understanding and application – Hudl, Catapult, Statsbomb, Second Spectrum, and various telestration software)
  • Exceptional presentation and narration skills – written and visual
  • Highly proficient in using Mac and Windows software
  • Naturally inquisitive with a passion for innovation and creativity
