About The Role

Engineering Coordinator

Full-Time, Permanent. Contractual Location: Hinkley Point C. Hybrid, Minimum 3 days a week on site.

At the forefront of the UK’s clean energy future, Hinkley Point C is more than just a construction project—it’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape the nation’s energy landscape. As a Building Coordinator, you’ll be right at the centre of the action, connecting design and construction teams to keep this complex, multi-billion-pound project moving forward.

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

This is your chance to join a project that’s redefining what’s possible in engineering and infrastructure. As a Building Coordinator, you’ll work within the Joint Design Office (JDO), helping to align design and construction activities across key buildings and packages. You’ll be the vital link between EDF’s Nuclear New Build (NNB) team and major contractors, ensuring technical interfaces are managed and milestones are met.

You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your coordination skills and technical insight will directly impact the success of one of the UK’s most important energy projects.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

Alongside a competitive salary of £54,280, we offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, and a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be part of the Joint Design Office (JDO), where your role will be to coordinate engineers across multiple disciplines, ensuring smooth collaboration and timely delivery of design packages. You’ll monitor performance using key metrics and help maintain high technical standards across all deliverables.

Your day-to-day will involve managing design changes, resolving technical issues, and ensuring alignment between design and construction teams. You’ll play a key role in readiness reviews and help unblock multi-disciplinary challenges that could impact progress.

Reporting to the JDO Area Lead and the Nuclear Island Engineering Manager, you’ll be a problem-solver and facilitator—keeping communication flowing, risks managed, and workloads balanced to keep the project on track.

Who You Are

We’re offering an opportunity to be part of EDF Energy’s ambitions to demonstrate strong experience within the construction industry and on-site working experience.

You’ll bring a proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently and plan effectively under broad supervision. Your background in engineering—whether mechanical, electrical, or civil—will be supported by experience in design, drafting, or construction. You’ll be confident managing complex technical issues and collaborating across teams to find practical solutions.

You’ll have a solid understanding of contract management (particularly NEC), CDM regulations, and be comfortable using systems to maintain accurate records. Your communication and facilitation skills will be key, as will your ability to identify improvements and drive progress. A degree or equivalent experience in engineering is essential, along with a structured, pragmatic approach to managing risks and delivering results.

Additionally, you must meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which generally requires you to have been a UK resident for at least 3 of the last 5 years.

Closing date for applications is Sunday 13th July, interviews will follow shortly after.
