We have an opportunity for a trainee in the final year of their training who’s passionate about helping people with a range of complex mental health needs to join our PICU/Acute service. Upon completion of your training, you will be able to move into a qualified position within the service.

Cygnet Newton House is a 21 bed specialist high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for men. The service is dedicated to providing a high quality environment for promoting long-term recovery.
Your Day-to-Day…
You’ll be working 40 hours a week, with time factored in to continue your studies. The post would make an ideal final year paid placement opportunity.

Your Day-to-Day…

Under The Supervision Of a Practitioner Psychologist You Will
- Work as a team Psychologist within a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
- Carry out psychological assessments & provide therapy to individuals & groups
- Collaboratively develop care plans with the MDT
- Provide training & support to colleagues, & consultation to teams
- Evaluate the service, contribute to its development & carry out clinical research
- Disseminate outcomes via conference presentations and publications.
- In the final year of their practitioner psychologist training (i.e. Counselling Doctorate, Forensic Doctorate, Forensic Psychologist Practitioner Programme)
- Previous experience within an inpatient mental health setting
- Passionate about working with people with a range of complex mental health needs
- Capable of treating difficulties such as self-harm, physical & verbal aggression, and drug & alcohol problems (under appropriate supervision)
