Role Profile:
The Senior IT Administrator will report to the IT & Programmes Director and will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the organisation’s IT operations. This role involves delivering both hands-on and remote support to a growing user base, ensuring systems run efficiently, securely, and in alignment with strategic goals. A proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to service excellence, and a strong sense of accountability are essential in enabling the best use of IT across the organisation.
While not all technologies may be familiar to the ideal candidate, a strong technical acumen and the ability to quickly learn and adapt are crucial.
The IT infrastructure and solutions are being started from a green field point of view, and with that in mind they are all Cloud Base SaaS. The solutions are all class leading and have been chosen as they can scale as the business grows.
The IT Landscape includes Microsoft 365, SharePoint, MS Azure, Windows 11 Pro, Infor Cloud Suite Industrial (ERP), Siemens TeamCenter X (PLM) and Nomuda Visual Factory (MES). At Head Quarters and the Development Centre there will be Ubiquity based WiFi networks and managed switches along with a Sonicwall Firewall.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Proactively lead the support, configuration, maintenance and development of our IT infrastructure and application platforms; both physical and cloud based.
- Responsible for developing and deploying IT Standards and best practice across the whole IT landscape, working with the IT & Programme Director.
- Responsible for the management of IT systems including hardware, software, and applications including elements such as client configuration standards and hardware refresh policy.
- Ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure including Storage Management, System Management and Network Management.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they arise.
- Lead on IT initiatives and projects with both internal and external collaborators ensuring objectives are met.
- Developing and enforcing cyber security policies whilst monitoring for anomalies and threats.
- Monitoring system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely.
- Managing and reporting IT KPIs.
- Documenting any processes or guidelines which employees need to follow to successfully work within our computing systems.
- Supporting colleagues about best practices for computer usage and developing basic training packages.
- Support of core business systems ranging across ERP, PLM and MES system administration with ability to learn our configuration and develop skills in these areas.
- Provide coordination across the IT departments, and where required serve as the escalation point for technical issue.
- Prioritising your own workload, with the support of the IT & Programme Director
- Supporting with the management of external providers.
- Regularly evaluating our IT systems to ensure they meet the necessary demands, capacity, and security needs.
- Some basic development skills, for example using Microsoft Power Apps and Forms.
Experience & Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience of providing IT support to end users, both in person and remotely, including setting up and deploying computers, mobile devices and printers etc.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a senior IT administration role.
- Hands on experience with the administration and support of network equipment (e.g. routers, switches and Firewalls).
- Experience of performing simple repairs and upgrades to IT equipment.
- Experience of managing Microsoft 365 applications, including Exchange Online and SharePoint and Intune.
- Knowledge of IT security & associated technologies
- Specific experience of supporting ERPs, MES or PLM solutions be highly valued but not all essential,
- Experience of User Admin of applications, and demonstratable experience of being able to learn how to do this in new systems.
- Experience of supporting Cloud SaaS.
- Preferably, has worked in a Small Medium Enterprise (SME) and is able to demonstrate the ability to ‘roll their sleeves up’ and personally get things done as part of a small team.
Essential Qualifications:
- HND Level 5 or bachelor’s degree in computing/IT or equivalent experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
- ITIL 4 Foundation Certificate
- MBCS or working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
- Relevant Microsoft Certifications (e.g., Azure, Microsoft 365

Key Information
Hours: Monday – Friday 9am-5pm
Flexible hours/Hybrid working available (none-contractual)
