  • Flexible working available, using a hybrid model - working from home and your contracted work base in County Hall, Taunton, as well as other county bases when required.
  • 30 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays.
  • Grade 9 – Salary range £40,476 to £44,711 per annum.

What will I be doing?

A unique and exciting opening has arisen for a Service Improvement Officer, providing a fantastic opportunity for you to draw upon your skills and experience to develop, support and facilitate a programme of service improvement activity across children’s services, including FIS, Youth Justice, SEND and Children’s Social Care. Most importantly, you will need to keep children, young people and their families at the forefront of your quality assurance work, pushing through barriers and offering challenge when needed.

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Working with the wider workforce to design, facilitate and manage a range of quality assurance activities, drawing together research and evidence to identify areas of strength and areas for development.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to strategic managers in the organisation, building reasoned arguments to influence strategic decision making in the best interests of children and young people.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with multi-agency partners, collaborating, negotiating and demonstrating strong analytical skills to identify creative solutions to complex systemic challenges.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:

  • Have excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have strong planning and organisations skills to drive forward project work through creative and critical thinking.
  • Have considerable experience in a relevant professional post /practice experience with children and/or young people.
