General Practice Clinical Coder/Administrator

As a clinical coder, you will be reviewing electronic clinical letters, clinical e-mails, paper documentation and any other clinical correspondence. From these, you will identify relevant clinical findings and code the documents appropriately and accurately in patient medical records. Review, interpret, and analyse clinical documentation to assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes. Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with national and local coding standards and guidelines.

Liaise with clinical staff to clarify any ambiguous documentation and ensure that coding accurately reflects the care provided. Input data into the EMIS Web health information system and maintain up-to-date records. Assist in coding audits, quality improvement initiatives, and education of clinical staff where necessary. Keep up to date with changes in coding practices, classifications, and relevant legislation.
