The Role

As a Principal Data Engineer, you will be the technical authority within our data engineering function. You’ll architect and build scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions that power analytics, AI, and operational systems across the business.

  • Mentor and guide a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact data products and pipelines.
  • Drive the adoption of modern data technologies (e.g., Delta Lake, Apache Spark, Databricks, APIs).
  • Ensure data quality, security, and compliance across all systems.

What We’re Looking For

  • Ideally 8+ years proven experience in a senior or principal data engineering role, ideally in a fast-paced retail or e-commerce environment.
  • Deep expertise in cloud platforms (preferably Azure), Data Lakehouse architectures, and distributed systems.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and experience with orchestration tools (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Event Hubs and Databricks).
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Bicep).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
