Job Description

Job Overview:

McDermott is seeking a dynamic and skilled Communications Specialist to support its Low Carbon Solutions (LCS) business line. As an integral part of a global communications team, the Communications Specialist helps deliver a range of high-impact internal and external communications initiatives for the LCS business line. The ideal candidate will have experience-or interest-in the energy sector, a knack for project management and storytelling, and the ability to develop content that resonates with both technical and non-technical audiences. This role offers an opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from employee engagement initiatives, internal and external events to corporate articles to social media campaigns and marketing, while playing a critical role in positioning McDermott the service provider of choice in the energy industry.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Internal Communications
    • Support the execution of internal campaigns and activities to drive employee engagement.
    • Support the delivery of town hall/dialogues with management/employee resource groups and employee events across the LCS business line.
    • Identify, develop and evolve effective, measurable and affordable communications channels; e.g. webcasts, video, online, dialogue, etc. to connect our global workforce.
    • Draft internal communications, including employee spotlights, functional memos, and project stories covering key operational milestones.
    • Coordinate the distribution of internal communications, ensuring consistency and timely delivery.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business priorities and communication goals.
    • Support campaign launches for Employee Resource Groups, QHSES, inclusion, sustainability events, and corporate initiatives.
  • External Communications
    • Assist in developing external-facing content such as press releases, thought leadership articles, technical papers, social media posts, and marketing copy that aligns with McDermott’s voice and brand.
    • Monitor and assess company and industry publicity to identify opportunities for new relationships with media, member organizations and industry bodies
    • Identify suitable speaking platforms at industry events/conferences and exhibitions.
  • Event Support and Employee Engagement
    • Assist with the execution of communications strategies for major industry events in support of the business line’s marketing strategy (e.g., Gastech, LNG26), and company-led networking events.
    • Support initiatives aimed at improving employee engagement and collaboration across the business line.
  • Marketing Support:
    • Contribute to the planning and execution of campaigns that promote Low Carbon Solutions' key product lines, emphasizing how the business line supports clients in the energy transition.
    • Conduct research to inform content creation, ensuring messaging is aligned with industry trends and the business line strategic objectives.
    • Develop and update marketing collateral for use at tradeshows and events, to promote new revenue streams or to market strategic initiatives.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate communications, preferably within the energy sector or a related industry.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a demonstrated ability to tailor content for different audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in social media management and digital campaign execution.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and safety initiatives is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and content management systems (CMS); familiarity with design tools like Adobe Creative Suite and Canva is an advantage. Knowledge of photography and video editing is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to translate technical concepts into compelling narratives.
  • Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proactive and adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Ability to establish connections with colleagues to efficiently gather and disseminate company news and updates.
