To support our ambitious growth plans, we have a great opportunity to join our Infrastructure Division. SOCOTEC is the UK’s largest independent construction materials testing division, delivering seven million tests a year to more than 5,000 clients either in our laboratories or on-site. SOCOTEC offers the widest range of testing, inspection and certification services in the UK. Our sampling and testing methods are based upon current British and European standards and are accredited by UKAS.

The purpose of this role is to work within the Structures and Pavements Team based in our Coventry office, but working with other team members located around the country. The Structures and Pavements site team carry out testing and inspections on sites such as buildings, bridges and roads.

The key function of the role is to assist the Operations Team with all aspects of the quotation process from logging enquiries, producing quotations and being the initial point of contact for stakeholders and producing invoices using Sage.

This is a full-time role (Mon-Fri), however we would welcome applications for part-time hours (Mon-Fri) from suitable candidates (please give details during application process).

Main Duties, Responsibilities And Authorities

  • Triaging the structures and pavement team email inbox
  • Being the initial point of contact to clients and sub-contractors via. email and over the phone
  • Logging enquiry data into the team quote log using Microsoft Excel
  • Raising invoices on Sage (training will be offered)
  • Any other duties as assigned and deemed commensurate with the grade and overall responsibility of the post

Competencies Required

  • Excellent IT skills – Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook and also pdf software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A keen eye for detail and be able to produce accurate work
  • The ability to work in an organised fashion, to achieve deadlines

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES

  • Although no previous experience within the Civil Engineering industry is necessary, a willingness to learn about the inspection and testing that we undertake is essential
  • Sage experience preferable but training can be offered if necessary
