Exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic registered nurse to join our dedicated team on Cardiothoracic Ward. The ward is situated within the Heart and Lung Centre, New Cross Hospital, and is a 31 bedded in-patient surgical ward. This includes a 4 bedded high dependency area. Admissions are both emergency and elective patients who require surgery for various Cardiac (eg, CABG, heart valve surgery, aortic surgery) or Thoracic conditions ( eg, lobectomy, pneumonectomy, pleurectomy, decortication) .

We are looking for caring, compassionate nurses, preferably with experience, who can demonstrate implementation of the 6Cs, committed to delivering high standards of dignified patient care, who are highly motivated and have excellent communication skills.

A specialist interest in cardiothoracic surgical nursing would be of any benefit; however, transferable experience will also be welcomed.

To provide high quality nursing care and participate in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care needs for the patient group.

To deliver compassionate person-centred care, and treat patients, service users, their families and their carers with consideration, dignity and the respect you would want for yourself or your family.

To provide relevant forms of care with minimal supervision and participate in the supervision and teaching and assessment of unregistered or junior staff and students.

To play an active part in the continuing development of the ward or department and contribute to the maintenance of an environment conducive to the delivery of high standards of patient care, by promoting good communication and relationships between staff, patients, relatives and visitors.

Must be able to work a day and night shifts.
