Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • As a Lead Machine Setter , your main responsibilities and duties will include:
  • Ensuring all Welland H&S safe working practices and core values are adhered to at all times.
  • Compliance of all Welland Work Instructions (standard operating procedures) and regulatory requirements through implementation of best practice techniques.
  • Ensuring all documentation and reports are completed accurately and correctly with concise data, meeting the prescribed company standards.
  • Schedule compliance to support all production.
  • Liaison with Engineering / QA. / R&D to ensure best practice and reduce downtime and or quality issues.
  • Liaison with other Production Teams (including Stores) to ensure smooth running of daily capacities.
  • Liaison with Operations Supervision and Production Control to ensure compliance to schedule.
  • Effective communication at al levels both verbally and on any written documentation e.g. shift handovers.
  • Ensure we have and control machine flexibility across all autos.
  • Ensure that Machine Setters are trained and competency assessed and recorded in line with company standards, procedures and regulatory requirements and that skills and knowledge gaps are identified and corrective action implemented.
  • Creation and update Welland’s Work Instructions (standard operating procedures).
  • Lean and CI Champion and facilitating process teams to drive out inefficiencies in the business.
  • Understanding machine performance and working with others to suggest and deliver improvements (scrap, throughput, downtime and utilisation).
  • Accountability and responsibility of progress monitoring and reporting current manufacturing position against the plan across the cell.
  • Accountability and responsibility for the quality of product that is produced on the automated machines.
  • Provide competent and reliable information to colleagues to ensure best practice is followed and that the highest standard quality of product is produced.
  • As part of an NCR and/or CAPA team the Lead Setter will be responsible for investigation and validation works ensuring the most effective corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
  • Responsible for the effective completion of Equipment Risk Assessments.
  • Drive team motivation and employee engagement.
  • To deliver the company PDR process.
  • Managing team members’ holiday to ensure no negative effect on Production.
  • Provide cover when required for Machine Setters.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  • Manage the team in line with Company Procedures and Policies and guidance from HR i.e. absence management.
  • Ongoing development of the team with regular communication on their performance through regular 121’s and completion of the PDR process.
  • Working with HR to review any training requirements that will ensure continuous development.
  • Inspire and motivate team members to ensure company and team objectives are met.
  • Drive team motivation and employee engagement.
  • Managing team members’ holiday to ensure no negative effect on Production.

Other Duties

  • Adherence to the Company’s Health and Safety policy at all times and operate and promote the development of quality standards and procedures taking ownership of tasks and to seek new improved ways of doing things.
  • A degree of flexibility is required, and the job holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above and which will be appropriate to the level of the role. All duties must be carried out in compliance with company Quality System, Health and Safety Policies and regulations set out in the Medical Device Directive.
