Location: Rutland Community Fridges as required.
Days and Times: Fridges will be open as follows,
Oakham - Friday mornings and Wednesday evening
Uppingham - Friday afternoons
Greetham - Saturday morning alternate weeks
Hours of work: Friday Community Fridges will require 8.00am – 4.00pm
Wednesday Community Fridges will require 4.15pm – 7.15pm
Commitment expected: To be on a rota and to work required sessions per month (usually 1-2 sessions per month), throughout the year according to dates agreed.
Report to: Volunteer Co-ordinator Sue Ball in the first instance, and then Claire Crowley Director of Root-and-Branch Out

Expense policy: Any reasonable expenses will be reimbursed on a monthly basis
Contract and salary: Freelance, £12.25 per hour depending on experience. To be invoiced monthly.
Responsibilities
The Fridge Staff will:
- Be responsible for running the Community Fridge alongside a volunteer
- Follow the checklist of duties provided by the Community Fridge
- Set up and run the Community Fridge session by setting up food, serving customers and then tidying and cleaning up and dealing with any left over food at end of session in the most creative way possible! This might mean liaising with other staff and fridges.
- Collect data of all surplus food saved from landfill and report it to Community Fridge Volunteer Co-Ordinator.
- Adhere to policies and procedures, including risk assessments
- Use own car to collect surplus food from shops, cafes, supermarkets locally to take to the fridge
- Sort food given to us from our shop partners and to ensure it is fit for consumption
- Promote volunteering (internally and externally) through recruitment and publicity strategies and campaigns
- Undertake and pass Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, and provide satisfactory references and DBS checks
- To undertake induction training with the Volunteer Co-ordinator including Safeguarding training
- Monitor, support, and motivate volunteers and listen to feedback from them
- Offer advice and information to volunteers and external organisations through face-to-face, phone, Whatsapp and email contact
- Promote good working relationships between volunteers and service users, and be prepared to undertake conflict resolution.

Qualifications
We aim to recruit someone who:
- Has a passion for working with people and who will embrace the community dynamics within the Community Fridge setting.
- Understands the importance of waste prevention and how to demonstrate that in their practice
- Is punctual and reliable and willing to work for the good of the team
- Has an understanding of working with people including those who may be vulnerable
- Has experience of and an enjoyment of working with people from a range of backgrounds
- Is able to follow organisational ethos, policies and procedures
- Demonstrates good communication and people skills, is friendly, caring and polite and able to enthuse and motivate others.
- Has good planning and organisational skills and able to work to deadlines and Is proactive at prioritising, problem solving and getting things done
- Has access to own transport to reach the Rutland Community Fridges
- Is able to use judgement and intellect to work on own initiative
- Is a team player with a willingness to work cooperatively and collaboratively
