What You'll Do
In the capacity of Senior Family Solicitor, you will:
- Oversee a varied caseload encompassing all aspects of family law, including divorce proceedings, financial settlements, property disputes, matters concerning children, cohabitation disputes, cases involving domestic abuse, as well as the drafting of separation agreements and pre- or post-nuptial agreements.
- Provide exemplary client service by ensuring that all matters progress efficiently and that clients are kept comprehensively informed throughout each stage of their case.
- Present regular updates on case progress during departmental meetings and individual sessions with your line manager to ensure transparency and accountability within the team.
- Uphold rigorous compliance with file and case management quality standards as delineated in the office manual and in accordance with Law Society regulations.
- Contribute to business development initiatives by participating in marketing activities and promoting the department both individually and collaboratively.
- Cultivate strong professional networks through regular attendance at networking events and participation in joint projects to enhance the firm’s standing within the community.
- Diligently utilise the firm’s case management system to ensure all records are meticulously maintained and readily accessible for periodic review.
- Engage in relevant training sessions as required to maintain compliance with Law Society continuing professional development requirements and remain abreast of developments in family law practice.
- Ensure files are consistently available for review to support internal quality assurance processes within the department.
- Participate constructively in team meetings by sharing insights and best practices to foster a collaborative working environment.
To flourish as a Senior Family Solicitor within this role, you will bring:
- Possession of qualified Solicitor status or Fellowship of CILEX with no fewer than six years’ post-qualification experience independently managing family law matters.
- Demonstrable proficiency in handling diverse caseloads involving divorce proceedings, financial disputes, child arrangements, cohabitation issues, cases concerning domestic abuse, and preparation of legal agreements.
- A proven capacity for working autonomously whilst also flourishing as part of an interdependent team dedicated to achieving optimal outcomes for clients.
- Exceptional interpersonal acumen enabling you to establish trust-based relationships with clients during periods of emotional difficulty.
- A highly organised approach that allows you to prioritise effectively under pressure without compromising meticulous attention to detail or quality standards.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills essential for clear correspondence with clients and effective advocacy during negotiations or court proceedings.
- A steadfast commitment to ongoing professional development evidenced by willingness to undertake requisite training as mandated by regulatory authorities.
- A positive disposition characterised by empathy, resilience, adaptability, and a sincere desire to support colleagues within a nurturing team environment.
- An unrestricted practising certificate ensuring full compliance with all regulatory requirements applicable to solicitors or legal executives.
