Job Overview
We are currently looking to recruit a highly motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our expanding team of nurses following investment and recent promotions. We have recently recruited nurses awarded excellent during their nurse training.
We are keen to gain a good skills mix within the teams and invite applications from both recently qualified nurses, for whom we will support through preceptorship in the first year of joining, as well as experienced Staff Nurses who want to gain new skills and career progression prospects.
Interviews will be held face to face.
The successful applicant will have contact with patients/service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

Main duties of the job
To become part of our team and join us on our journey you will need to demonstrate your enthusiasm and motivation for providing care to a challenging service user group.
You will receive access to training through a dedicated in house team that has staff development at the forefront.
The role will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience of undertaking appraisals, shift co-ordination and the potential to lead on an area of special interest related to acute admission and care.
We seek nurses who are able or have the potential to lead a team of nurses towards the goal of high quality care.
You will work as part of a team on one of our two wards on rotational shift patterns which includes early, late and night shifts. The vacancies allow for a range of competencies as identified within the AFC Knowledge and Skills Framework.

- To co-ordinate and provide care and treatment to an identified group of patients without direct supervision.
- Take responsibility for the development and delivery of evidence-based nursing practice, ensuring that it supports and reflects service user individual needs.
- Contribute to the development of high quality evidence based in-patient services in a changing health care environment.
- Contribute towards ensuring that the ward functions as an integral part of Mental Health Services.
- Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- To practice within professional guidelines and promote professional practice in the clinical setting.
- To ensure continuous professional development through regular supervision, training and appraisal.

- UK NMC Registered Nurse (Mental Health) OR Registered Nurse (Learning Difficulty) OR Registered Nurse (Adult)
Essential criteria
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, minimising clinical risk and reducing restrictive practices
- To have knowledge of Mental Health presentations and appropriate interventions.
- Awareness of NMC Code of Conduct Current and developments in nursing care.
- Awareness of supervision and reflective practices
- Knowledge of risk management and how to plan care to account for risk
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with people with mental health problems/ learning disabilities
- Managing challenging and aggressive behavior
- Experience of providing individualized and culturally sensitive care
- Working within a multidisciplinary team environment

- Physically able to undertake relevant training for service area, i.e. Physical Intervention Training
