We have a great opportunity to join our friendly and transforming Finance team. We are looking to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant, reporting to the Finance Manager. The purpose of the role is to process accounting transactions within ABP’s Finance Shared Services (FSS) team in Port Business Services (PBS).
Collaborate with Accountants in a team to provide accounting services for ABP.

We have a great opportunity to join our friendly and transforming Finance team. We are looking to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant, reporting to the Finance Manager. The purpose of the role is to process accounting transactions within ABP’s Finance Shared Services (FSS) team in Port Business Services (PBS).
Collaborate with Accountants in a team to provide accounting services for ABP.
Delivery of Services
- Ensure timeliness and accuracy of accountancy transactions (including verification) to agreed standards within targeted timelines.
- Support the production of timely, relevant, and accurate management and statutory accounts.
- Ensure all documents are retained for control verification and to support internal and external audit reviews.
- Process journals and intercompany transactions.
- Support reporting processes, such as month-end close and financial activities, meeting deadlines with high quality.
- Assist in producing reports across the Group and supporting variance analysis and GL maintenance.
- Forecast cash flows.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and related follow-up actions, retaining a clear audit trail.
- Maintain and control balance sheet accounts with support and mentorship.
- Involvement in capital expenditure-related activities, AUC, and capitalised assets.
- Undertake other ad hoc tasks as required.
- Contribute to the preparation of Key Performance Indicators for the Management Accounting Team to monitor performance and service delivery levels, aiming to improve PBS and individual performance.
- Cultivate relationships with important customers across the business to grasp the process context and pinpoint opportunities for improvements within and across processes.
- Proactively suggest improvement ideas to drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and internal controls in processes and practices.
Do you have the following criteria?
- AAT qualified or starting to study towards a professional accountancy qualification, or experience in a management accounting role looking to gain further experience and understanding.
- GCSE Maths and English Grades A*-C (or equivalent).
- Degree or equivalent experience required.
- Experience of working in a service culture environment.
- Good understanding of basic accounting processes.
- Studying towards AAT or CIMA.
- Experience of working in a shared service centre.
- SAP experience.
- Experience of the Ports Industry.
