We are looking for a GIS Technician to help us drive our Ecology GIS Capabilities throughout the business. This is a new role, and an exciting opportunity to support the development of a growing GIS team and shape how spatial data is used at Tyler Grange.

As a GIS Technician, you will:

  • Support the streamlining of GIS outputs across the Ecology discipline.
  • Help implement and maintain a GIS strategy that supports future team growth.
  • Maintain and clean spatial datasets, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Run and develop automated scripts to improve data workflows.
  • Migrate legacy data to current standards to ensure a single source of truth.
  • Maintain and standardise map symbology and templates.
  • Contribute to internal training resources, including onboarding materials and Lunch & Learn sessions.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure data schemas are reusable and interoperable.
  • Support the development of unified report templates and dashboards.
  • Travel occasionally to other TG locations as needed.

  • Experience supporting a GIS team, ideally within an ecological or environmental consultancy.
  • Ability to collaborate with the Ecology Technical Team to drive digital innovation and transformation.
  • A proactive, self-starting attitude with confidence in decision-making.
  • A collaborative mindset that aligns with TG’s values and fosters team growth.

Technical experience:

  • Working knowledge of QGIS, and ideally other GIS software too.
  • Experience setting up spatial data management systems, QA/QC processes, and master templates to ensure efficient and standardized outputs.
  • Familiarity with digital field survey apps and their integration into GIS workflows.
  • Experience using digital field survey apps.
  • Experience maintaining and cleaning spatial datasets, migrating legacy data, and managing symbology and templates.

Salary: £29,590 (plus £3,000 annual Higher Cost of Living Allowance for London)

Location: Open to all locations - Manchester, Birmingham, London, Exeter, Bristol, Cardiff. We operate a hybrid working model with an expectation of two days in the office - this can include on-site days.
