art-K is a private art education service which teaches children (who love art!). art-K has developed a specialist art program that tutors art skills to create great pieces of art. We are the largest children's art education service in England, teaching over 7000 children nationally per week!

Job Purpose

The job holder’s purpose is to assist art-K’s Creative Director across a range of functions, including project creation, administration, diary management, planning training,, and ad hoc events, such as company outings. The job holder will be looking to assist in the effectiveness of the Creative Director in supporting the processes and procedures of her office.

Job Responsibilities

The role is supporting the Creative Director with daily tasks and long term plans. This will include, but isn’t limited to:

  • Assist the Creative Director in the creation of artworks and prototypes.
  • Create prototype project examples as directed.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director in developing artwork for various projects.
  • Research and support new art ideas and theories as directed for the art-K manuals.
  • Writing up projects as dictated by the Creative Director.
  • Support delivery of art-K school programme in local schools.
  • Administrative support for the Creative Director.
  • Coordinating visits and meetings.
  • Setting up our training facility for training with staff or for franchise visits (or other requirements).
  • Collate interview packs & prepare for interviews.
  • Where required, supporting on visits. Afterwards helping report and record mileage.
  • Ad hoc other duties as requested and agreed.

Administrative ad hoc opportunities

  • Keeping the company’s google calendar up to date.
  • Writing birthday, anniversary and celebratory cards / presents for the company.
  • Organising company social events and training facilities when required.
  • Responding to and approving / reviewing art material requests.
  • Setting up access to key softwares for the company through the company accounts.
  • Supporting Operations Lead with listings on our booking systems.
  • Supporting the Creative Project Coordinator on tasks when applicable.
  • Other administrative tasks that may include: creating data reports, collecting responses and ad hoc other.

Formal Qualifications

A degree 2:1 is preferable and/or relevant experience.

The ideal candidate will have:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications generally, with a focus on microsoft word, is essential.

High level of English writing ability to be able to draft content and respond to questions by email.

Art knowledge and skills to be able to create artworks as directed. Ability to follow closely the briefs shared, so the process is efficient and productive.

Over time and with growing confidence, an individual who can inspire people with the energy they bring to the role.

An individual who can effectively communicate balancing the needs of the company with the needs of the individual.

Salary: £13.52 per hour

Start date: September

Schedule: 16 hours per week (including 30’ paid break each day),

Monday 10am - 6pm

Tuesday 10am - 6pm

Location: In-person, required to work at art-K’s Ashtead HQ on Fridays (at minimum). Flexible to work across art-K’s other studios throughout the week.
