Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Relief Ward Clerk to join the Team at Glan Clwyd Hospital.

To work as a member of a team providing an efficient and comprehensive clerical support service for the Gynaecology & Maternity Wards thereby supporting the delivery of high quality service to patients and staff within the Department.

This is a great opportunity to work in and part of the NHS and support your communities with their Health Care.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, relatives and visitors to the Wards and must demonstrate a professional and sensitive manner and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Working as part of the Ward Team the post holder will be required to give efficient clerical support to the nursing staff on the Ward.

Applicants must also have a good standard of education, be adaptable and have good organisational skills. A professional telephone manner is essential to receive and respond courteously to all telephone enquiries regarding patient care.

Previous Ward Clerk experience and knowledge of the Patient Administration System (WPAS) is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Maths/English GCSE or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • NVQ 2 in Administration / NVQ in Customer Service
  • ECDL

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience working in an admin role

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience working within the health care sector/NHS
  • Previous ward clerk experience
  • Experience of working with the public

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Good communication skills
  • IT Skills

Desirable criteria
