Job Description

An independent practice in the Tyne and Wear area is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time Veterinary Surgeon to join their team and work across both of their well-established locations. This is a fantastic opportunity for a veterinary professional looking to be part of a practice that values clinical freedom, professional development, and a strong team environment.

The position offers a 40-hour work week spread over four days, ensuring a healthy work-life balance, with a requirement to cover 1 in 3 Saturday mornings. There are no out-of-hours or Sunday duties, allowing for more time to enjoy personal interests or spend time with family and friends. The practice’s new leadership team is committed to maintaining its independent status, providing a refreshing alternative to corporate veterinary settings. They emphasize giving clinicians the freedom to work up cases in their own way, encouraging a personalized approach to patient care.

The successful candidate will join a friendly and supportive team, including 3 experienced Vets, 2 Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), 2 Student Veterinary Nurses (SVNs), 1 Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA), and 3 Receptionists. The team takes pride in creating a welcoming and collaborative environment where each member is valued for their unique contributions. The practice is also well-equipped with modern facilities and tools, allowing for comprehensive diagnostics and high-quality treatment plans.

This role is perfect for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is passionate about veterinary medicine and wants to deliver the highest levels of care to clients and their pets. The ideal candidate will be confident in handling a variety of cases, from routine consultations to more complex surgeries, and will be motivated by the chance to make a real difference in the lives of animals and their owners.

In addition to clinical skills, the practice is looking for someone who shares their commitment to continuous learning and development. They offer a competitive salary, a generous CPD allowance, and opportunities for further professional growth. With the practice’s strong focus on mentorship and support, this role is suitable for someone who wants to enhance their skills in a nurturing and forward-thinking environment.

This is a wonderful opportunity to join a practice where you can thrive professionally while enjoying the unique blend of city and countryside life that Tyne and Wear offers. If you are looking to be part of a team that values independence, professional freedom, and the highest standards of care, this could be the perfect role for you.
