Job Title: Medical Secretary Location: Burwell Surgery Accountable to: Practice Manager Salary: Dependent on experience Hours: up to 24.5 JOB SUMMARY To provide an efficient secretarial and typing support to General Practitioners and Practice Manager. Must be able to communicate and organise effectively and maintain good working relations with all practice staff. Also to communicate with other professionals and patients, ensuring discretion and confidentiality at all times. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To transcribe correspondence, typing referral letters, routine letters and reports, either from digital dictation or hand written notes.
To book hospital appointments via the e-Referral appointment facility and to liaise with patients about choice and booking of their appointments. Attend e-Referral group meetings either virtually and/or in person. Monitor and action tasks in SystmOne and AskmyGP. To deal with telephone enquiries, liaising directly with professionals and patients in an efficient and courteous manner.
Prepare invoices as required. To record all work activities on shared spreadsheet to ensure effective handover. To carry out emailing as necessary. Frank and post outgoing mail.
To provide an overall and comprehensive secretarial service to the Practice. Any other administrative duties required to assist the running of the practice.
