Position:

Software Engineer

Location: Stafford

Salary: £40,000 per annum

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our team in Stafford. You will contribute to the development of features, fix bugs and issues, review code, and make a key contribution to the entire development lifecycle, from conception and discovery through to development and delivery.

You need to be able to work with colleagues across disciplines - collaborating with UX designers, front end and backend engineers, testers, and project managers. You’ll help create team goals and objectives, contribute feature ideas, discuss the future direction of products, and give input on how we can improve as a team.

It’s important that you have strong communication skills, sound decision-making capabilities and a genuinely innovative outlook.

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Minimum of 3 years software development experience; experience using object-oriented programming techniques and languages such as Jaba, C#, Python and Scala
  • Demonstrable experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
  • Experience with Git, Bitbucket & Atlassian products such as JIRA, Confluence
  • Event driven architectures and microservices
  • Strong awareness of best practices, code standards, building processes, test driven programming and code reviews

Requirements:

Who You Are

  • 3 years experience working in a software engineering or similar role
  • Experience working with cloud and serverless architectures, mainly AWS. Knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, EC2 / ECS /S3 and SQS.
  • Knowledge of AWS Cloudformation and CDK
  • Working knowledge of any mainstream streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, Kafka Streams
  • Strong effective communicator who is able to clearly explain complex technical information
  • Strong oral and written communication skills which delivers messages clearly and confidently
  • A motivated, self-starter and team player who shows respect and values the views of others, whilst being flexible and resilient to change
  • Creative and curious mind that is always seeking continuous improvement

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Reports to: Senior Software Engineer

Location: Stafford with hybrid flexibilities

Additional Information

  • Selection process: Application – Initial introductory call with Head of Engineering– Competency based interview
  • You must be able to legally live and work in the UK and be based near Stafford
  • This role does not offer visa sponsorship; candidates must be authorized to work without sponsorship
  • The postholder will be required to travel to external meetings on occasion by most effective means available
  • This role is available as part of a hybrid working environment from Stafford
