What's the role?
SMS are currently on the lookout for a Metering Scheduler to join a busy and dynamic team in Cardiff. The successful candidate will be required to prepare work schedules for SMS field engineers and sub-contractors in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible, in line with contractual agreements and priorities set by clients.
The Metering Scheduler will also be responsible for the warrant project responding to specific bookings from the clients. They will also need to schedule enough chargeable work per engineer to meet departmental targets. They will be handling queries from external customers and resolving promptly and effectively and working closely with other areas of the Company to accommodate customer requirements. The role also involves regular reporting and maintaining databases.
This role is offered on a hybrid working basis (2 days in the office and 3 days at home typically), and the working hours are 40 hours per week. The shift pattern is 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Schedule work for SMS Field Engineers & sub-contractors to ensure working day is efficient as possible.
- Pick up and action requests sent via customer portals and Metering Services mailbox.
- Prioritise work based on contractual agreements.
- Identify any issues and raise to Metering Delivery Manager.
- Provide support to all SMS Field Engineers and sub-contractors.
- Maintain Metering Database and any other relevant systems.
- Ensure industry flows are sent where necessary.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure optimum service delivery.
- Liaise with customers regarding engineer availability, appointments, and access.
- Prepare reports as requested by management.
- Request access permits where applicable.
- Handling of ad-hoc queries from engineers, customers, Suppliers, and other team.
- Education up to GCSE (or equivalent) standard.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- An effective communicator, who is comfortable speaking with stakeholders at every business level.
- Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think proactively.
- Demonstratable experience in the energy industry.
- The ability to work individually and as part of a team.
- Experience of working under pressure and delivering to strict deadlines
