Volunteer Volunteer Chef for Monthly Social Eating Meal | Monkey Park Community Enterprise

We need additional chefs to help cook at our monthly meals, working with existing volunteers, to use Fairshare deliveries (supermarket surpluses) to feed the local community in return for donations.

What difference will you make?

Some of our community are struggling with the cost of living crisis. Others just enjoy the social aspect of eating together in a relaxed sociable environment. We have a small team of dedicated volunteers who come together to make a really positive impact in their local community.

What are we looking for?

Applicants need to be comfortable working with a diverse range of volunteers and customers. to be good communicators. to be able to adapt to create menus for adults and children with whatever food we are sent. To remain calm and patient in time sensitive situations.

What will you be doing?

Using whatever is in the delivery, the chefs create the menu and cook the meal. The food arrives on the third Thursday of the month and we currently cook on a Friday afternoon. However, in August, we plan to experiment with cooking on a Saturday instead, to see if this increases the numbers of volunteers and customers attending. We cater for allergens. We also provide vegan or vegetarian options as well as meat.
