We're seeking a Company Secretary with ace administrative skills who feels passionate about helping local people with advice, information and advocacy in the current challenging times.

What difference will you make?

This is a central role for the smooth running of the Board and governance leadership. You will manage any change in the legalities as we potentially move from being a small charity into larger structures to ensure we can continue to provide the people of Epsom and Ewell with much needed advice, information and advocacy.

What are we looking for?

Legal knowledge, company secretarial experience are required for this role. You’ll need to understand and agree with/accept the responsibilities and liabilities of trustees be non-judgmental and respect views, values and cultures that are different to your own exercise good independent judgement demonstrate good leadership and inter-personal skills have good listening, verbal and written communication skills have good numeracy skills be able to think creatively be able to work effectively as part of a team be willing to follow the aims, principles and policies of Citizens Advice Epsom & Ewell including confidentiality and data protection be willing to undertake training in your role Ability to set up and manage remote attendance at Board meetings for some trustees.

What will you be doing?

You'll join a lively Board with a strong team ethos. We work closely with the CEO and hold an annual strategy day with staff and volunteers to determine the priorities for the next year. Applicants will need to show expertise and experience in a range of areas including timely filing of documents with Companies House, the Charity Commission and the CAEE storage system, organising the agenda, documents, venue and minutes of Board meetings and the AGM, ensuring compliance with the law and Articles regarding trustee appointments, keeping up to date with policy reviews and leading on governance projects. We're in an exciting period with potential change to a group structure and/or mergers to follow Surrey's move to become one or more unitary authorities. Experience in partnerships, collaboration and mergers would be a bonus. There are interesting times ahead!
