Associate Lecturer in Illustration

The University of Worcester BA (Hons) Illustration course is seeking to expand its current pool of sessional Illustration Lecturers to contribute to teaching.
We particularly welcome candidates with an ability to work across analogue and/or digital formats and a sound knowledge of professional illustration practice.
Areas of practice we wish to appoint to include:
- Picture Book Studies (in its broadest sense)
- Narrative
- Comics
- Printmaking
- Editorial
- Illustration Business Practice
- Books arts
- Authorial
- Contextual
- Digital arts (Adobe Creative Suite -Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign)
- 3D Illustration.
You must have strong communication skills, be able to motivate students, and be confident in a workshop environment by giving lectures and seminars.
You will have a good undergraduate degree within Illustration or related area.
Applicants with an ongoing professional practice and detailed knowledge of contemporary developments within Illustration are encouraged to apply.
What to Expect
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a formal interview, which includes delivering a 15-minute teaching session. You’ll step into the role of a lecturer at the Institute of Arts and Humanities and present a session aimed at Level 5 undergraduate students.
Your session should focus on a topic from your area of expertise. We recommend covering one or two key concepts in depth, with a clear structure: introduction, presentation, interactive learning activities, conclusion, and references. Please ensure your Intended Learning Outcomes are realistic for the time limit and that your session is student-centred and engaging.
Following your teaching session, the panel will ask questions related to your presentation and teaching approach.

NB. If you are successful at interview, you will be invited to join a pool of sessional lecturers, and we will contact you if suitable work becomes available. We are not able to guarantee employment as it will be subject to student numbers. The number of hours available might only be a few hours per week.
