We are looking for a National Account Controller Retail - Metsä Wood UK

What’s your role at Metsa?

The role reports to the UK Sales Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership of Metsa Wood UK’s largest customer account leveraging our long standing in the market and reputation for high quality, service and operational excellence.

The individual will need to contribute to both the overall sales strategy and culture whilst also leading the development and execution of the channel sales performance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Growth of Metsa Wood’s sales volume, sales revenue and sales margins:
  • New Product Launch
  • New Product Development
  • Customer Master data Creation / Metsa Wood & Customer Master Data Maintenance
  • Marketing Support
  • Price Implementation
  • Demand Planning
  • Online Channel Engagement
  • Adherence to Stainability and Compliance
  • Managing Vendor Performance
  • Leading the collaborative forecasting process with customer and internal S&OP
  • Finding value within our service offering and specifications in order to create value based selling opportunities.
  • The successful candidate will lead, develop and support 1 direct report
  • Establishes a wide internal and external network to enable, accelerate and embed best practice and support for Metsä ’s growth ambitions and strategies.
  • Drive up Metsä channel intel and customer agenda which builds strong and sustainable relationships with key trade partners that in turn accelerate customer engagement and grows the number of long term sustainable relationships.

  • Product Margin profitability for Metsa Wood UK’s manufactured and traded products
  • Growing Volume and Sales Margin
  • Developing the efficiency of Metsa Wood UK DIY distribution
  • Supporting wider Metsa Group commercial aims and targets

What are we looking for?

You will be influential, decisive, energetic and commercially astute who is passionate about the industry and achieving results through inspiring your team. The experience and capability to influence, inspire and deliver a step change in the ambition and commitment for the channel across all stakeholders is key.

Metsä are also committed to finding the right attitude; an ambassador for the brand who has a great high energy and personable style so that building strong, popular and authentic rapport comes naturally. Ability to ask great questions and a good sense of humour will be welcomed too!

  • Proven track record of growing Sales in the UK market
  • Experience working directly with Retail / DIY customers in the UK Market
  • Customer orientated and creative: willing to be hands on with the trade but still committed to building and leading from behind with results coming in from the capability of the wider team and the active partnership with the customers
  • Effective and rounded commercial negotiation skills which create sustainable end to end and conditional agreements
  • Culturally sensitive and adaptable
