Performance and Operations Manager – Band 5, 37.5hrs per week – Fixed Term 12 month
The Surgery Management team is looking to recruit a Performance and Operations Manager to work with the specialty of General Surgery. The post holder will work 37.5 hours per week and will assist the Specialty Manager, General Surgery with performance management #and service improvement.
This varied and interesting new post requires excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, and the ability to communicate at all levels. A flexible approach is essential, as is the need to be self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks/objectives working to deadlines. A knowledge of Referral to treatment pathways and targets would be an advantage as would be a knowledge of service improvement techniques.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to providing a high quality service to patients and hospital staff including senior clinicians. A positive attitude and professional approach is essential as is the ability to multitask and manage your own caseload in this varied, interesting and challenging role.

Main duties of the job
Main Duties And Responsibilities
Operational Management
- To have delegated responsibility for the delivery of key divisional and organisational targets, for example: achieving 18 week Referral to Treatment (RTT) patient pathway and ensuring that Trust Policies with regard to patient care are adhered to, for example, the Patient Access Policy:
- To communicate, including at meetings, performance against the 18 week Referral to Treatment (RTT) patient pathway and liaise with the General Surgery administration team, the RTT team, the Gastroenterology Department and the Inpatient and Outpatient Booking offices to negotiate resource required for effective service delivery
- Where required to train administrative and professional staff in the rules and procedures of RTT to improve understanding so that best practice is observed
- To attend weekly performance meetings and ensure that accurate and clear information is provided in relation to key targets and standards;
- To act as a key point of escalation/contact to troubleshoot issues which may prevent timely provision of patient care, liaising with Clinical and Nursing colleagues as appropriate, escalating complex or contentious issues to the Specialty Manager as appropriate;
