The Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for AB Cook to join our team working on a Dredger Vessel on a rotational 3 weeks on 3 weeks of shift pattern.

Primary Role: The Cook/AB reports to the Master and takes responsibility for catering on board the vessel, maintaining provision stores and Galley. .

Secondary Role: The Cook/AB is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the mooring operations on arrivals and departures, and any maintenance of the ship, as directed by the Master.

Responsibility-


  • To prepare meals as required on board the vessel including cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner, in addition to maintaining the availability of snacks and drinks at all times for 24 hours working.

  • To maintain the stocks of food and cabin stores as required and directed by the Master.

  • To ensure the cleanliness of the galley and mess areas, such that good standards of hygiene are maintained throughout, in accordance with Company and International regulations.

  • To maintain records of fridge/freezer temperatures, ensuring correct stock rotation and compliance with expiry dates.

  • To work on deck in a safe and efficient manner, as directed by Master.

  • Provide navigational watch keeping routines when required by the Master.

  • Responsible for compliance with company regulations and to provide Emergency Response duties as detailed in the ship’s Muster List.


Who you are (requirements)


  • Preferably a recognised Cooks Qualification, and Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.

  • An updated STCW95 certification and preferably an AB licence.

  • A working knowledge of garbage disposal and management in accordance with regulations.

  • The ability to work professionally in the galley environment, maintaining high standards of food and hygiene at all times.

  • Self-motivated and creative within the galley, presenting a wide variety of meals, and striving towards continuous improvement.


We will consider a cook for this role provided there is a willingness and ability to be trained in performing specific tasks on deck such as providing assistance in mooring operations.
