About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manager to join our team, to support our repair centre operations at Hixon. You'll lead and manage all aspects of the production process, including: having ownership of day-to-day production operations; productivity; and people management.

Main Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Output

  • Oversee daily planning and coordination of all refurbishment activities, ensuring pumps and related equipment are turned around efficiently and meet all return-to-service standards.
  • Work collaboratively with support teams to execute job cards, manage bottlenecks, and deliver weekly output plans.
  • Monitor capacity, resource levels, and material readiness to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Implement and maintain pulse meeting dashboards to drive daily performance visibility and problem resolution.

People Management & Development

  • Line manage, coach and engage Team Leaders across workshop, yard, fabrication, and paint/blast areas.
  • Set clear performance expectations and support development through training, coaching, and structured reviews.
  • Manage attendance, conduct, capability and supporting HR processes as needed.
  • Lead toolbox talks and daily pulse meetings to reinforce safety, priorities, and engagement.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)

  • Champion a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with all Selwood and legal SHEQ standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date risk assessments and safety procedures across all activities.
  • Drive continuous improvements in quality and safety performance.
  • Ensure all equipment, substances, and lifting activities comply with regulations.

Refurbishment Planning & Productivity

  • Translate weekly refurbishment targets into executable plans across functional areas.
  • Work closely with supply chain, stores, and planning to ensure timely material and component availability.
  • Track performance against output KPIs and identify opportunities to improve throughput and reduce cycle times.

Continuous Improvement & Site Development

  • Support the Process Improvement Leader in delivering lean initiatives, VSM actions, and 5S implementation.
  • Contribute to the site’s strategy to improve output, reduce cost, and increase first-time-right performance.
  • Support CAPEX planning for tooling, layout, and process enhancements specific to refurbishment.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Act as the operational lead for cross-functional discussions on throughput, equipment readiness, and process bottlenecks.
  • Communicate priorities and changes clearly across the team and ensure effective handovers across shifts/functions.
  • Liaise with fleet and logistics to align refurb plans with business-wide requirements

Essential

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrable experience managing operations within a production, service, or refurbishment workshop environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical/electrical processes - ideally related to pumps, powertrains, or rotating equipment.
  • Experience managing multi-functional teams
  • Proven track record in driving performance improvement, safety culture, and operational control.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing tools, such as 5S, Kaizen, root cause analysis, and standard work.
  • Excellent planning, communication, and leadership skills in a fast-paced setting.
  • Working knowledge of HSE regulations, COSHH, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems (MS Dynamics preferred).
  • Ability to manage performance metrics and generate data-driven insights.
  • Proactive, structured, and outcome-focused.
  • Hands-on leadership style with a visible presence on the shop floor.
  • Strong communicator who builds trust and engages teams across all levels.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with a practical mindset.
  • Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally between sites or to support business-wide initiatives.
