Job Advert

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior EIA Consultant to join our head office team in Cambridge, with opportunities to work across the UK. Our priority is to find the right person, so we are open to discussing different working options.

We would like to talk to Environmental Consultants with 3-5 years of experience to join our rapidly growing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team. It is an exciting period of growth for us, and you would be supported to develop quickly as a professional. If you are not yet a member of IEMA or IES, we can help you get there.

Minimising the environmental impact of our clients’ proposed developments is something we take very seriously – to the extent that Bidwells are recognised by IEMA as being at the forefront of good practice and expertise in EIA. This is reflected by our firmwide IEMA EIA Quality Mark Accreditation. We are one of only a small band of property consultants with this accreditation.

You will be joining the Environment Society Economy (ESE) team in the Bidwells Planning department.

We are currently 8 strong and are growing rapidly to meet the buoyant market demand for our diverse portfolio of services which includes EIA, health, equalities, socio-economics, housing, social value and demographic modelling.

We are slightly different from many EIA teams as we are commercially driven and have a wide understanding of the planning process. We work as part of multidisciplinary teams to give us unparalleled insight into the environmental and social dynamics of commercial, residential, industrial and rural development.

What you’ll be doing:

You will be working on a wide range of developments as part of planning and design teams – key responsibilities include the following:

  • Assisting in the co-ordination of EIA projects, working with a range of specialists;
  • Researching and writing Environmental Statements and additional reports required throughout the planning process;
  • Liaise with planning case officers, consultees and clients; and
  • Proactively helping to shape a growing team

About You:

  • Degree qualification in a relevant subject;
  • Upwards of 3 years’ relevant experience;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills;
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK environmental planning regulations;
  • An interest in the wider services provided by the ESE team in addition to EIA;
  • You enjoy working as part of a team and are keen to take responsibility;
  • Strong personal integrity and a commitment to acting as a force for good;
  • The ability to think creatively and innovatively to help inform design and strategies.
