We are looking for an outstanding Gardening Project Assistant who’s passionate about horticulture and wants to make a difference.

You’ll be working part time, Monday to Friday, 20-30 hours per week (flexible) at our gardening project at Kirkside House, creating an excellent learning experience for the people in our care, supporting and teaching the service users to learn about gardening and horticulture.

**Due to a genuine occupational need we are only able to accept applicants with a full, clean driving license for this role**

  • Experience in a DIY/gardening/maintenance setting essential, some experience in supporting individuals with learning disabilities desired but not essential**

Your day-to-day…

  • Able to work between the hours of 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday
  • Able to assist the Gardening Lead to run the project on a day to day basis
  • Able to be diverse in their approach and support residents according to their individual care plans
  • Able to communicate well in a positive and pro active way with service users and colleagues
  • Driver preferred as the assistant collects and returns service users to their respective residences
  • Able to take the lead when the Gardening Lead is absent
  • Helps to ensure the gardening project area is Health & Safety compliant by completing checks and reporting issues where necessary
  • Able to manage accounts and finances when gardening lead is absent
  • Helps to ensure all paperwork is completed and up to date
  • Has some understanding of horticulture and some DIY skills desirable
