Are you passionate about database administration and ensuring data is secure, accessible, and running at peak performance? We’re seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our Tech Platforms team in Norwich. This role will suit someone with a strong background in PostgreSQL and SQL Server, looking to step into a more strategic and collaborative role within a growing, dynamic team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the performance, integrity, and security of databases.
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure database systems.
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply patches and versions when necessary.
  • Perform regular database backups, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery tests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with developers and IT teams to optimize database solutions and support business-critical applications.
  • Provide out-of-hours support, including evenings and weekends, for production deployments and system maintenance.


Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL Server; experience with DB2 is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of database design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, optimization, and backup/recovery procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work cross-functionally with different teams.

  • Salary: £45,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
