Following recent successful business cases we are looking to recruit additional staff into the Critical Care and Surgery Team at Wexham Park Hospital. We are very excited to have the opportunity to further expand the Critical care and Surgical physiotherapy team.

This post offers the exciting prospect of being a core member of the team working in Critical Care & Surgery. This will include inpatient work in Critical Care, Surgical Acute Dependency Unit, General Surgery, plastics & ENT. There will also be opportunities to contribute & collaborate with our award-winning surgical prehabilitation service & our innovative Critical Care Rehabilitation & Follow-up Service.

You will be supported & developed by both your Band 7 Team Leader & our cross-site APP for Critical Care. We are committed to ensuring we deliver high quality, individualised care to patients on critical care & the surgical wards in line with best practice, as well as developing our staff to achieve your career aspirations.

Main duties of the job

This post holder will work within the team providing surgical & critical care physiotherapy services at Wexham Park Hospital.

They will provide therapeutic clinical expertise & quality advice to patients on critical care & surgery as well as support to the multi-disciplinary team. Clinical supervision, appraisal and teaching of band 5's & students will be core components of this role.

They will demonstrate excellent communication and collaborative working, along with other clinical specialists across the Trust, in order to provide a high quality, efficient service.

With support & direction from their Team Leader & APP they will participate in service development & audit as well as education to both physiotherapists & the MDT.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • HCPC Registration
  • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy.
  • Demonstrate up to date knowledge of best clinical practice in relevant speciality.
  • Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice.
  • Evidence of recent study in relevant clinical area.
  • Demonstrate understanding & involvement of Clinical Governance and risk assessment
  • Basic knowledge of health legislation.

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of some managerial training.
  • Member of relevant clinical interest group.
  • Clinical educators training

SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES FOR ROLE

Essential criteria

  • Interpersonal skills including clear, concise and effective verbal and written reports
  • Organisational skills
  • Able to think logically and problem solve.
  • Analytical skills demonstrated both clinically and managerially
  • Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance.

Professional/ Specialist/ Functional Experience

Essential criteria

  • Completion of band 5 rotations. This includes experience in the relevant clinical areas, General Medicine, Orthopaedics, Surgical/ICU, Elderly Care, Neuro, Outpatients.
  • Training and supervision to support all physiotherapy staff and students
  • Multidisciplinary working.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in critical care/surgery at band 6 level
  • Relevant training courses
  • Student supervision
  • Leading/active participation in audit/service development project
