Due to the nature of the role supporting NATO, there will be a requirement to attend the office up to 5 days a week. There may be an opportunity to work from home, but this will be limited.

Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. A unique opportunity exists as Travel Clerk within a thriving Multi-National Defence Headquarters - Headquarters Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC). HQ ARRC is situated at Imjin Barracks, Gloucester and is home to the UK framework multi-national high readiness HQ within the NATO Force Structure. HQ ARRC provides NATO with a rapidly deployable, flexible HQ that can act as a Joint, Land or Corps HQ for operations and crisis response. Its multi-national ethos, combination of cultures and innovation, strong professional reputation in NATO and proven track record in interoperability are unique among its High Readiness Force (Land) peers.

We are looking for a motivated and highly organised professional to join our team. The successful candidate will provide an excellent and efficient travel service in accordance with extant local, national and NATO policy and regulations. You will be working alongside colleagues Military and Civilian of all ranks, delivering advice, mentorship and compliance.

Ideally, the candidates will be self-motivated, who can handle their own workload and meet set deadlines. They will need to have a good IT literacy and have an ability to work proactively and as part of a team.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job Description

As a Civil Servant you will work alongside Military colleagues in jobs that matter; jobs which often have a direct impact on the quality of the operational capabilities the Army delivers.

We are looking for a self-motivated and well organised NATO Travel Clerk with good IT literacy, who will be responsible for booking travel for personnel across the whole Headquarters.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Be working in a customer service focused environment providing effective and efficient travel service for both UK and NATO funded activity for HQ ARRC personnel
  • Provision of general travel and process advice to all HQ ARRC customers relating to duty travel activity
  • Assist in planning efficient travel itineraries for UK duty and NATO funded activity through consideration of NATO, Service, and the departments dedicated travel provider regulations raising contentious or non-compliant requests for resolution
  • Booking of authorised travel including flights, trains, hire cars and accommodation to suit the duty requirement using the departments dedicated travel provider where mandated and improving efficiency through external internet opportunities where permitted
  • Accurate scrutiny and reconciliation of financial transactions against credit card and business account statements, investigating and reporting discrepancies for resolution

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours, Ability and Experience.

At application you will be asked to complete a Civil Service Judgement test. If successful, you will then be asked to provide a 500 word personal statement outlining your skills and experience against the essential criteria, using examples to demonstrate this. You will also be assessed against the following behaviours -
