Job Summary

Located within HM Naval Base Portsmouth, the Principal Security Adviser (PSyA) is looking to recruit an Executive Officer to work in the Warning Advice Reporting Point (WARP), this is a small team responsible for providing a single reporting and co-ordination cell for all security incidents occurring within the Navy Command Top Level Budget (TLB) organisation.

Part of Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ), the nerve centre of the Naval Service, PSyA provides strategic direction and oversight of security activity and ensures Navy Command TLB aligns with Defence security policy.

Job Description

The WARP provides a 24/7 focal point for the management of security incidents and breaches on behalf of Navy PSyA. The team is responsible for the assessment of security incidents, tasking incident investigation, co-ordination with the Joint Security Coordination Centre (JSyCC) and MODCERT, and the notification of other MOD partners. In addition, the team are responsible for the distribution of the latest security policy updates and documented advice and guidance to the Royal Navy security community.

As WARP Incident Manager, you will be responsible for managing security incidents from cradle to grave; providing Subject Matter Expertise (SME) advice/guidance at all levels and at all aspects of security incident administration within the NAVY WARP’s Area of Responsibility (AOR). The working environment is dynamic and challenging, so you will need to be well organised, comfortable working at pace, and possess good judgement and communication skills. Although some experience of working in a security environment would be beneficial, it isn’t essential as you will work closely with subject matter experts who will lead with the assurance and closure of incident investigation.

As part of the role, you will be required to undertake out of hours on-call duties for which you will receive on call allowance. You will be required to be on-call for an average of one week per month.

Person specification

  • Manage a portfolio of security incidents, providing administrative support to ensure they are investigated appropriately and reported to the relevant authorities (e.g., MODCERT and JSyCC), within mandated timescales (iaw JSP 440, and Navy Command Security Regulations).
  • Provide advice and guidance on security incident management and policy to all RN units and shore establishments.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the security communities.
  • Disseminate security information across the NAVY WARP’s AOR.
  • Contribute to a continuous 24/7 reporting cell as part of an out of hours duty rota. An average of one week per month will be required to undertake out of hours on-call duties.
