As an Assistant Estimator, you’ll support the delivery of competitive, high-quality bids by analysing subcontractor returns, preparing cost plans, and helping manage project data throughout the tender process. If you're detail-driven with a solid grounding in residential construction and a proactive approach to estimating, this role offers a strong foundation for career growth in a high-performing team.
All the responsibilities we’ll trust you with
- You’ll thoroughly analyse sub-contract returns (including sub-contract comparisons) and engage with our supply chain throughout the bid to ensure suitable returns are provided.
- You’ll be completing elemental rate breakdowns at the completion of projects and helping to manage our internal cost database.
- You’ll be assisting with multiple stage tenders, including completing preliminary costings, and forms of tender.
- You’ll assist if necessary with pre-qualification questionnaire, and enquiry information.
- You’ll use historic rates or experience to price work, and complete cost plans.
- You’ll actively promote the company and seek new tender opportunities under the direction of the Directors.
- You’ll help prepare all the required documents for tender adjudications and be an active participant.
Where you’ll be based
You’ll join our Preconstruction Team, working alongside experienced professionals who lay the groundwork for every successful project. From detailed cost planning to risk management, you’ll help shape complex, high-value construction projects from the very start—ensuring precision, clarity, and confidence from day one.
You'll be located in the village of Sherborne St John, a ten-minute drive from Basingstoke town centre, at our company head office.

he areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:Y
- ou’ll have or be working on a HNC in Construction or relevant Degree level qualificationYou’ll have knowledge of construction and private residential building contracting.You’ll have an awareness of property taxation matters and contractual lawYou’ll have a good understanding of traditional building methods and products associated with the refurbishment of listed buildings and high end residential construction.You’ll have experience working with estimating software like Esti-Mate, or ConQuest
