Senior Fire Surveyor
Wintech

About Us
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Fire Surveyor to join our established UK based fire engineering consultancy team.
At Wintech, you’ll be part of a company known for uncompromising integrity. We strive for an inclusive environment where employees feel safe, engaged, valued and free to create and contribute their ideas.
We are looking for dedicated people to join us on our mission to make a difference.
Job Purpose
To provide passive fire protection inspections and assessments, including fire performance characteristics from manufacturer’s literature, certification and interpretation of test reports. This is so compliance, or extent of non-compliance, with the statutory requirements can be established for the completion of reports on FRAEW, EWS1 and other fire related inspection-based duties. This will involve site visits and interaction with contractors and installers for projects across the UK and for a variety of building types.
Reporting directly to the Principal Fire Surveyor, you will be expected to organise and programme your own workload to meet the demands of a fast-paced project delivery timescale.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Be an ambassador for Wintech and the company ethos.
- Passionate about Fire Risk Appraisal and External Assessment, with the aim of becoming a qualified and competent assessor for external wall assessments. In-house training will be provided, and eligible candidates may receive sponsorship for the RICS-organised External Wall Assessment training.
- Commitment to the success of the fire engineering division and delivery of projects.
- Be aware of commercial consequences relating to your involvement with a project and the actions you undertake.
- Take ownership of personal performance and commitment to project completion and success.
- Attend site for inspection of fire measures and features in both new build and existing premises.
- Regular UK travel with potential for overnight stays.
- Responsible time management and contributing to workload programming and fee proposals.
- Carry out duties within the principles of Health & Safety for site-based work and in accordance with Risk Assessment Method Statements.
- Writing reports for accurate site inspection records and assisting in making remedial measure recommendations where required.
- Maintain an appropriate level of competence for the relevant duties and your own level of knowledge for applicable fire regulations, guidance, and requirements.
- Input on CPD and be willing to share knowledge across the company.
- Act as a mentor for junior members of the team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Industry qualification in Building Studies, Risk Assessment or similar subject (e.g. BTEC HNC/HND).
- Professional Membership with surveying, construction, engineering or fire safety association / professional body desirable.
- Completion of the RICS EWS training course is preferable but not necessary. We will sponsor the right candidate to attend the training course as part of their professional pathway to becoming a competent FRAEW assessor.
