Overview

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager with a strong focus on driving project execution and delivering results across complex defence programmes. Operating at the core of our central PMO, you will lead the deployment of robust project controls, steer delivery performance, and ensure that programme objectives are achieved—on time, within budget, and to the required scope.

This is a strategic delivery role requiring strong leadership, disciplined execution, and effective cross-functional coordination. You will work across a portfolio of high-value projects, taking ownership of delivery governance and championing a culture of performance, accountability, and delivery confidence.

Responsibilities Will Include

  • Drive overall project performance, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, and scope across multiple complex programmes.
  • Proactively identify risks and variances, lead recovery planning, and implement corrective actions to restore delivery confidence.
  • Lead and enforce delivery governance, collaborating with Project Managers and Control Account Managers to maintain schedule, risk, and cost control.
  • Deliver accurate project health reporting and provide actionable insights, working closely with schedulers to assess schedule and resource impacts and requirements.
  • Ensure interdependencies across projects and programmes are effectively managed and coordinated.
  • Lead engagement across enabling functions to maintain programme momentum through timely decisions, input, and resource alignment.

Required

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Recognised Project Management Qualification (e.g., APM PMQ, PRINCE2, PMP).
  • Demonstrable experience in driving project delivery, recovery actions, and performance improvement within complex, multi-disciplinary defence environments.
  • Strong proficiency in project control and assurance methodologies, with working knowledge of tools such as MS Project, Primavera, Power BI, or equivalent.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership skills, with a proven ability to influence and align diverse teams to deliver shared outcomes.

Desirable

  • Experience working within regulated defence programmes and MOD customer frameworks.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and their integration into project delivery and reporting.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and shipbuilding lifecycles and their associated delivery constraints.

Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.*
