We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Support Officer to join us to provide effective and efficient administrative support for our Resources Business Strategy and Governance Senior Leadership team.

You will be part of a diverse and dynamic workforce who manage the development, governance and compliance of Corporate processes and policy’s, including the Annual Report and Corporate Plan.

This position is part time, 25 hours per week and based in Aylesbury This is a fixed term contract ending 31st March 2026. Please note this role is pay grade 4 and the salary advertised will be pro-rata.

Within Corporate Business Support we have over 300 staff delivering a wide variety of Business Support services across Buckinghamshire Council. We have been operating since April 2012 and we are looking for individuals with the ability to demonstrate the Buckinghamshire Council’s values.

We aim to provide front line services with an efficient, value for money business process administration and project support service. We pride ourselves on being resilient and adaptable to change, whilst understanding the processes, policies and values held by the council.

We pride ourselves as highly experienced in working across a range of services provided in the council. The strength of the team is its knowledge of the key support services required to ensure a smooth running of services being provided by the different Business Units.

About The Role

Your duties will be varied and include:

  • Ensuring governance is fit for purpose and meets the needs of the Directorate.
  • Acts as a point of contact for staff, providing support and direction to help them navigate the directorates governance arrangements and ways of working.
  • Support the coordination and development of corporate documents, events and processes.
  • Ensuring compliance of the Resources Directorate by collecting, analysing, and presenting data.
  • Champion the voice of the customer.

Any-Desk:

As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.

About You

We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated with a willingness to learn. You must be able to work flexibly to respond to service demand and be able to demonstrate the ability to prioritise a varied and challenging workload efficiently.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following skills and behaviours;

  • Possesses good communication skills and accurate attention to detail.
  • Educated to GCSE / NVQ2 standard or equivalent, including in English and Maths.
  • Keen to learn and able to juggle priorities effectively, often with conflicting demands.
  • Caring and helpful and able to work as part of a team.
  • Customer focused and has a can-do attitude.
  • A supportive and helpful nature.
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft packages, including Outlook, Excel and MS Teams
