Senior Petrophysicist

The role comprises undertaking and managing petrophysical work-scopes and projects to the highest standards. Providing mentoring and reviewing the work of more junior professionals. You must be able to work independently with limited supervision when required.
The Senior Petrophysicist will have demonstrated full competence in petrophysics with an ability to independently problem solve. Able to manage their own tasks and time within an integrated project with minimal oversight. You should be experienced working collaboratively and within integrated projects.
You will have a full appreciation and understanding of the complete cycle of oil and gas field exploration, development, operation, and decommissioning in addition to awareness of emerging energy transition technologies such as CCS, Hydrogen storage and geothermal.
Key Duties & Accountabilities:
Technical Analysis:
- Using appropriate techniques, workflows and software to complete petrophysics work scopes and projects. Works independently with limited supervision and as a part of a team.
- Ensures integration with other discipline teams.
Mentoring and Assurance:
- Give guidance, mentoring and technical training to junior staff and team members.
- Deliver peer assist and review to projects.
Project Execution:
- Able to manage their own technical tasks and time within a petrophysics work scope and integrated project team, supporting the delivery of high quality of projects within budget.
- Provide regular updates to project manager as required.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Document and communicate technical, work, results and conclusions clearly to the project team and client.
Business Development:
- Support in building and sustaining client relationships.
- Providing technical input to proposals and tenders.
Person Specification:
Knowledge & Qualifications:
- A degree in a relevant discipline
- Relevant experience from an operator, consultancy or equivalent.
Skills:
- Advanced knowledge in the application of the appropriate techniques and software.
- Experience in the following core technical areas:
- Well log Interpretation and Analysis.
- Core Analysis and Integration.
- Permeability Prediction.
- Facies Prediction.
- Fluid saturation evaluation.
- Data Integration.
- Cement Log Evaluation.
- Cased Hole Logging.
- Reservoir Characterisation and Integration with other disciplines.
- Definition of Logging Programmes.
- Understanding of Geomechanics.
- Experienced user of industry standard software, for example:
- Interactive Petrophysics.
- Geolog.
- Techlog.
- The ability to apply their experience to energy transition technologies such as CCS, Hydrogen storage and geothermal.
- Capable of mentoring junior professionals.
- Ability to manage their own technical tasks and time.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Competent in the reporting and documentation of technical work scopes and projects.
Experience:
- Experience across many aspects of oil and gas field exploration, development, operation, and decommissioning.
- Proven geology experience within an operator or consultancy in a technical role. Able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Experience in managing their own time, small projects and work-scopes with supervision.
