The organisation
Hays is delighted to be working in partnership with the Borough of Broxbourne Council to recruit an Estates Surveyor. The Borough of Broxbourne includes the main towns of Cheshunt, Broxbourne, Hoddesdon and Waltham Cross and comprises of a variety of landscape including the rural western side and urban eastern side. The borough has notable attractions including Lee Valley Park, Paradise Wildlife Park, Broxbourne Woods and the River Lee, making the borough an excellent place to live and work. This is an exciting time to be joining the Borough of Broxbourne due to a number of forthcoming major development and regeneration plans including the recently announced Brookfield Riverside £400m development.
You will be joining an experienced and high-performing Estates team who are committed to managing and developing the Council's diverse property portfolio, contributing to the borough's growth and sustainability. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your existing Estates Management skills and further development will be provided, including APC support (if required).
The role
As the Estates Surveyor, you will be involved in a wide-range of Estate Management duties across the corporate estate. You will be working on a varied corporate estate consisting of retail, industrial and offices through to developments and grazing land. As the Estates Surveyor, your role will include professional duties such as rent reviews, lease renewals and asset valuations. You will also be involved in property management duties such as managing tenant relationships and service charge reconciliations. As part of the role, you will contribute to transactional work such as acquisitions, disposals and lettings. This is a broad role whereby you will be involved in the day-to-day management of the Council's property portfolio and therefore provides substantial variety ensuring no two days are ever the same.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful for this role, you should ideally be a qualified Chartered Surveyor (or be working towards your APC). A degree in Real Estate, Estate Management or a related field is essential. Experience working in a broad Estates Management function is preferred and you should have strong knowledge of property law, asset management and valuation. You should have excellent communication skills. A driving licence is required for this role and pool cars are available for business use.
