We are seeking a commercially astute and analytically driven Head of Finance to partner with our Operations (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality) and Product teams. This is a pivotal role that will provide strategic financial leadership, drive performance through data, and support decision-making across our end-to-end product lifecycle.

This role is ideal for a finance leader with a strong FP&A background, deep understanding of manufacturing environments, and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Role Overview

We are seeking a commercially astute and analytically driven Head of Finance to partner with our Operations (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality) and Product teams. This is a pivotal role that will provide strategic financial leadership, drive performance through data, and support decision-making across our end-to-end product lifecycle.

This role is ideal for a finance leader with a strong FP&A background, deep understanding of manufacturing environments, and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partnering

  • Act as the finance lead for Operations and Product, providing financial insight and challenge to drive efficiency, innovation, and value creation.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and R&D to align financial planning with operational goals.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for operations and engineering functions.
  • Develop and maintain robust financial models to support scenario planning, investment decisions, and cost optimization.
  • Deliver insightful variance analysis and performance reporting, translating complex data into actionable insights.
  • Support monthly management reporting cycles with timely and accurate analysis of variances, trends, and forecasts.
  • Perform scenario analysis, cost-benefit evaluations, and profitability assessments for proposed projects or investments.

Operational Finance & Data Analytics

  • Analyse key financial metrics and KPIs (e.g. revenue, manufacturing and gross margins, standard costs, overheads, cost of goods, inventory costs, working capital) to support performance management and strategic planning.
  • Work closely with Finance and Operations teams to understand cost drivers and identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement.
  • Monitor and analyse key manufacturing KPIs (e.g., yield, throughput, scrap, downtime) and link them to financial outcomes.
  • Partner with Quality teams to provide financial analysis and insight into cost of quality, including scrap, rework, warranty claims, and compliance initiatives. Support continuous improvement efforts by evaluating the financial impact of quality programs and helping prioritize investments that enhance product reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Support supply chain planning and execution by providing financial insights into procurement strategies, supplier performance, logistics costs, and inventory management. Partner with supply chain leaders to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve working capital efficiency, and evaluate the financial impact of sourcing and distribution decisions.
  • Collaborate with Product teams to evaluate the financial impact of R&D initiatives, prototype development, and new product introductions. Provide cost-benefit analysis, track project budgets, and support investment decisions that align with innovation and long-term product strategy.
  • Support make-vs-buy decisions, capital investment appraisals, and product costing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data models that provide clear insights into operational and financial performance.
  • Translate data into visualisations and narrative to support decision-making across the operations landscape and wider business.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in reporting and data analysis.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across systems and platforms.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Partner with departmental heads to create meaningful KPIs aligned to business objectives.
  • Work closely with the wider finance team to ensure that the Operations and Product business units receive timely, relevant, and high-quality financial support. Act as the key liaison between these business units and the broader finance function, ensuring alignment and responsiveness to business needs.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior finance role within a manufacturing or engineering-led business.
  • Strong FP&A expertise with a track record of driving performance through data and analysis.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, cost accounting, and operational KPIs.
  • Excellent financial modelling, analytical, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience working in an original design manufacturing (ODM) or product development environment is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Infor a plus), Excel and data visualization tools (PowerBI).
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification preferred but not essential.

  • Flexible working if applicable
  • 9 Day Fortnight – if appliable This is a flexible working pattern which individuals can opt in for where an employee works their contractual hours across 9 days instead of 10 days. (i.e. 80 hours across 9 days instead of 10 days). This mean the individual would work an additional hour across Monday to Thursday (across the 2 week period) to gain their Friday off.
