We have a fantastic opportunity for a Shift Manager to join our team in Middlesbrough.

As the Site Shift Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating between departments to ensure the manufacturing plan is delivered efficiently and on time.

You will effectively manage your direct reports, ensuring that product quality standards are consistently met and maintained. You’ll also be accountable for ensuring all company policies, procedures, and Health & Safety regulations are followed at all times. Additionally, you will monitor team performance, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for development and training where needed.

Location: Middlesbrough

Shifts: 12 hour shifts working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (6pm – 6am)

Salary: £44,500 per annum

Key Duties

  • Ensure all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to in order to ensure a zero accident culture is developed on shift.
  • Support and mentor Area Managers and Supervisors with a can do approach to problem solving.
  • Continuously monitor waste and implement action plans to reduce total wastage on the shift.
  • Ensure the appropriate staffing levels are maintained and manage absence collaboratively with Area Managers.
  • Identify main causes of downtime on the shift and implement action plans to meet agreed targets.
  • Manage all relevant technical policies and procedures to ensure the best quality products are produced.
  • Deputise for the Site Operations Manager during periods of absence, as and when required.
  • Consistently work towards improving costs and promote continuous improvement culture.
  • Encourage a team spirit and resolve conflict within the team.
  • Manage and coordinate with Hygiene, Engineering and QA functions, during night shift (if applicable)
  • Facilitate a workable trial plan collaboratively with the Process Manager
  • Monitor and measure yields, BOM costs and report findings to the Site Operations Mangers.
  • Futureproof the areas with a succession plan for key roles within the team.
  • To undertake any other duties that could reasonably be expected within the remit of the post.

Skills We Are Looking For

  • The ability to lead a team.
  • To be able to work on your own initiative or as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills are essential.
  • Hands on experience of the area and roles.
  • Approachable and level headed individual with the ability to support colleagues.
