The Service & Team:

Are you a motivated individual looking for a rewarding and exciting new opportunity? We are seeking a new Senior Technical Officer in Regulatory Services to join our Public Rights of Way Team.

If you are passionate about the natural environment, public access, and mapping the rights of way network, then this is the job for you. The Public Rights of Way Team is seeking to appoint an organised, adaptable and enthusiastic person to help us to manage our business support processes.

The Role

As a Senior Technical Officer, you will:

  • Develop knowledge and understanding of how our Public Rights of Way system operates.
  • Be working with our dedicated team helping them to plan, prioritise and support delivery for a high volume of tasks.
  • Acting as a first point of contact via telephone, electronically or face to face helping to respond to public enquiries, complaints, and requests relating to the rights of way, providing information and advice.
  • Offer administrative support for a wide range of rights of way functions providing assistance with processing legal applications involving changes to the path network including consultations and notices.
  • Keep the PROW and Commons & Greens webpages up to date, including redacting and publishing officer reports.
  • Help to arrange venues and prepare documents for Public Inquiries and Hearings.
  • Act with tact and diplomacy and be able to demonstrate discretion around confidential and sensitive information.

Working Pattern

This is a full-time (37 hours per week), permanent position, primarily based at New County Hall, with a starting salary of £25,772 per annum. You will receive on the job training and mentoring, as well as opportunities for further development and progression within the Council. What You’ll Need To Succeed

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Have a keen interest in the natural environment, public access and mapping.
  • Be able to demonstrate a high level of IT literacy as well as administrative processes and activities.
  • Provide evidence of working in a regulatory/office environment.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Have five GCSEs at grade 5 or above (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
  • Ideally hold NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject (Business Administration or Customer Care or IAG) or have at least 3 years recent experience of working in an office environment.
