Finance Analyst

Headstar

Date: 1 day ago
City: Pontefract, England
Salary: £38,000 per year
Contract type: Full time

I'm recruiting for a business in Pontefract that needs a Finance Analyst who does more than just shuffle spreadsheets and cross-check numbers someone else typed in wrong.

They need someone who spots the issue, digs into the detail, and actually does something about it. That means getting involved with Operations, Planning, Commercial, Tech, not just emailing from the sidelines.
This is office-based. If you're looking for hybrid or remote, this won't be for you. But if you like being right where things happen, face-to-face with the people you need to work with, you'll probably prefer it that way.
You'll report into the Financial Controller. Part-qualified CIMA would be ideal, but what matters most is experience - especially if it's in manufacturing, supply chain, or anything that involves understanding the real cost of things.

Here's what the job actually looks like:
Daily cost variance analysis - labour, packaging, production, distribution.
Following up with operations teams to fix issues, not just document them.
Maintaining and updating finance-relevant systems (BOMs, cost specs, reports).
Ensuring new products are set up right from day one to track costs accurately.
Working cross-functionally to ensure reporting is accurate and consistent.
Spotting ways to improve margins or reduce waste - and making it stick.
Full stock reconciliation across multiple areas.
Supporting costings for renewals and tenders with real, accurate numbers.
Providing cover for finance colleagues when needed (and getting that cover in return).

You'll need to be sharp, proactive, and not afraid to push back when the numbers don't add up. This is a visible, hands-on role - not a backroom one.
If that sounds like your kind of challenge, please get in touch.
