As part of our ambitious strategy to foster environmental stewardship and social responsibility, we are looking for a passionate and skilled Sustainability Officer to lead and develop sustainability initiatives across the College.
The Role
As Sustainability Officer, you will play a vital role in shaping Oldham College’s sustainability agenda. You will develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy, conduct environmental impact assessments, and promote a culture of sustainability among students, staff, and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and embedding sustainability policies aligned with the College’s strategic goals
- Managing environmental compliance and driving initiatives to reduce carbon footprint, waste, and energy consumption
- Collecting and analysing sustainability data to inform reporting and continuous improvement
- Leading awareness campaigns, training, and engagement activities for staff and students
- Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to innovate and enhance sustainability practices
Who We’re Looking For
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Management, or a related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in sustainability roles, with strong knowledge of frameworks such as UN SDGs and ESG
- Proven skills in carbon accounting, waste management, and environmental compliance
- Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to analyse data effectively and deliver compelling sustainability reports
- A passion for environmental protection and the drive to foster an inclusive, responsible culture
