Are you passionate about creating vibrant, sustainable green spaces that improve community well-being and support climate resilience? Birmingham City Council is seeking a visionary Head of Parks to lead the strategic management and development of the city’s parks and green spaces.
About the Role:
As Head of Parks, you will champion environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and economic viability across Birmingham’s diverse green spaces. You will drive innovation in park management, ensuring that these vital community assets contribute to the city’s climate goals, biodiversity, and social equity.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership for Birmingham’s Parks and Green Space service with a strong focus on environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
Integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles to ensure parks are inclusive, accessible, and benefit all communities.
Oversee financial management of the service, securing external funding and optimising resources for long-term sustainability.
Innovate and implement best practices to enhance environmental quality and social well-being through park development and management.
Engage proactively with local communities, businesses, and stakeholders to reflect diverse needs and promote social cohesion.
Represent Birmingham nationally, advocating for the city’s green spaces and building partnerships to support environmental and social responsibilities.
Lead sustainability and social impact initiatives, promoting programmes addressing social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and public health
