Balmoral, a division of Balmoral Group, provides surface and subsurface buoyancy, insulation and elastomer products and services to the global energy, defence, subsea communications and oceanographic industries.
The Manufacturing Engineer will bring the experience to provide production support by providing technical input to problem solving requirements as issues are identified within the factory and wider business. In addition the Manufacturing Engineer will implement and manage continuous improvement principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes and plant. The role will include managing contractors and ensuring that health, safety, and environmental requirements are adhered to. Including capital and process development projects, providing technical knowledge. Plus will be responsible for introduction/improvement of production and business processes. There will be a high level of focus on future planning and implementation of product R&D development into production.
This role requires an individual with relevant experience.

- MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOBHOLDER
- Proactive health and safety management across all projects.
- Defined strategies are implemented in all areas of the Business
- Collaboration between Technical, Production, Engineering and R&D departments to enable new and existing product/processes
- Latest technologies are constantly under review through attendance of technology shows and business seminars etc.
- Where applicable, employees are trained in the use of lean methodologies
- Departmental projects are managed ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and value are delivered.
- The current production processes are constantly under review, improvements are recommended and if accepted implement in a sustainable way
- Working with Maintenance and Production teams to solve problems as they come up

Qualifications
- Professionally qualified and/or qualified through experience (5+ years) with strong understanding of a manufacturing environment and lean processes.
- Ability to work under pressure / multitask / handle aggressive deadlines / shifting priorities
- Manufacturing experience desirable, especially in a composites or plastics environment
- Problem solving and factory troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment
- Production automation desirable.
- Good finance awareness.
- Strong HSE background.
- Analytical Skills – need to be able to identify areas of low efficiency and work to provide improvements
- Lean Manufacturing Skills – must be able to identify and eliminate waste within the system
- Communication Skills – will work with manufacturing employees at all levels and need to be able to effectively explain the relevant points of equipment to each. Also needed for successful project management
- Technical Skills – must be able to work with different technology to provide a solution that produces the required result in the most efficient way possible. Knowledge of PLC development would be desirable
- Commercial Awareness – must keep the “bigger picture” in mind at all times when considering each step of the manufacturing process
- Problem Solving Skills – ability to take a concept of a process and establish the equipment needed to make it happen
- Organisational Abilities and Project Management – should be able to prioritise tasks, set schedules and work between different projects to achieve overall business goals
