FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior AWS Data Engineer to work for our client within the public sector. This is initially a 5-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a fully remote role.


Our client is seeking a seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior AWS Data Engineer to support a key end client. This is an exciting opportunity for a data engineering professional who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys leading projects, and excels in stakeholder engagement.


Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and secure data pipelines and infrastructure on AWS
  • Lead and mentor a junior team member, fostering high-quality delivery and professional growth
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver actionable, data-driven insights
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data processes
  • Optimise data workflows for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
  • Use Jira for effective task and project management


Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Data Engineering role
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer with a strong focus on AWS cloud services (e.g., AWS Glue, S3, blob storage
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with Scala is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or AWS Step Functions
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor team members effectively
  • Experience using Jira for task and project tracking
  • Experience with Informatica for data integration and ETL processes
  • Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and best practices
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
